This document will provide you with the basic information to configure/setup your smartphone to access your PenTeleData email account via IMAP.

Server information:

  • IMAP (incoming/host name): promail.ptd.net
  • Port 143
  • SMTP (outgoing/host name): promail.ptd.net
  • Port 25 or 587
  • SMTP Authentication is required

Note: Standard data charges may apply. If you have questions regarding your data plan, please check with your carrier. Sending and receiving email via Smartphone counts as data usage.

Google Pixel

  • From the Home screen, swipe up to display all apps.
  • Navigate to “Settings,” next, “Passwords & accounts.”
  • Next, tap, “Add account.”
  • Choose “Personal (IMAP).” 
  • Enter your PenTeleData, Email address then tap “NEXT.”
  • Enter your corresponding Password for your PenTeleData email account.  Next, tap “Sign in.”
  • In the “Account options” windows, select your desired options, tap “Next.”
  • In the “Incoming server settings.” Enter your username, everything before the “@ptd.net.” Re-enter the corresponding password. In the “Server” field, enter “promail.ptd.net.” Tap “NEXT.” 
    • NOTE: If prompted for “Port” enter “143.”
  • In the “Outgoing server settings,” please adjust the slider to enable “Require sign-in.” 
  • In the “Username” field,” re-enter your username, everything before the “@ptd.net.” Re-enter the corresponding password. In the “Server” field, enter “promail.ptd.net.” Tap “NEXT.” 
    • NOTE: If prompted for “Port” enter “143.”
  • On the “Account options” window, please choose whichever options you would like to enable. When done, tap “NEXT.”
  • In the “Your account is set up….” dialogue, enter an “PTD,” under the “Account name.” In the “Your name” field, enter your name as you would like it to appear when you send an email. When done, tap “NEXT.”
  • If the information fails, please review the configuration settings you have entered or contact Customer Service at 800-281-3564.
  • You are now finished and can return to your "Home" screen.

Apple iPhone

  • 1. Tap the “Settings” from your iPhone’s home screen.
  • 2. Tap “Mail” on the “Settings” pane.
  • 3. Next, choose "Add Account."
  • 4. Choose "Other," next, select "Add Mail Account."
  • 5. Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear when people receive messages from you.
  • Address: Enter your email address ( username@ptd.net).
  • 6. Password: enter the corresponding password.
  • 7. Description: the information will appear automatically.
  • 8. When done, select "Next."
  • 9. The iPhone will attempt to verify your information. 
    • NOTE: If you receive a warning message regarding “Cannot Connect Using SSL?,” tap on “Yes.”
  • 10. If successful, you will return to "Mail" and your PenTeleData e-mail account will appear.
  • If the information fails, please review the configuration settings you have entered or contact Customer Service at 800-281-3564.
  • You are now finished and can return to your "Home" screen.

 

Samsung Android

  • From the "Applications" menu, select "Email."
  • Enter your email address and password. 
  • Next, select "Manual Setup."
  • Username: enter the first part of your PenTeleData email address (everything before the @ptd.net).
  • Password: enter the corresponding password.
  • Under "Incoming Server," select "IMAP."
  • IMAP server: promail.ptd.net
  • Port: 143
  • Security type: none
  • SMTP server: promail.ptd.net
  • Port: 587
  • Require sign-in: must be checked
  • Username: enter the first part of your PenTeleData email address (everything before the @ptd.net).
  • Password: enter the corresponding password.
  • Account options: please review and select your options.
  • Account name: enter a name that you can easily reference your PenTeleData email account.
  • Your name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear when people receive messages from you.
  • If the information fails, please review the configuration settings you have entered or contact Customer Service at 800-281-3564.
  • You are now finished and can return to your "Home" screen.
